Symptoms and Treatments of Depression in Women


Depression is one of the most critical conditions in women, which in fact, can even cause disability when lack of treatment. According to statistics, there are 25% of women in the world who suffered severe depression sometime in their lives. Though men also experience depression, yet, women are more prone and the symptom pattern is a lot different.

The following are some of the symptoms of depression observed in women that are similar to major depression include:

·         Disheartened mood
·         Disinterest to do the activities that habitually you used to enjoy to do
·         The feelings of hopelessness and self- worthlessness
·         Suicidal thoughts
·         Sleep disorder (it can be more sleep or less sleep)
·         Loss of appetite and changes of weight
·         Cannot concentrate to accomplish different actions
·         Fatigue and deficient of energy

How to treat depression in women?

Most of the time, women with depression are treated through psychotherapy or antidepressant treatment. On the other hand, hormone changeability related to reproductive cycle can also be the major inflictions on women's mood aside from the few special therapies considered for this case like:

·         Depression due to effect of PMS or menstrual cycle
·         Pregnant women usually struggle with the complications in connection with the major changes that women's body are experiencing
·         Mothers who recently gave birth with blue baby
·         Women who are approaching menopause or coping with emotional and hormonal changes

Most of these are the high signs in the reproductive cycle that vastly influence depression in women.
